Safari Overview

Starts Nairobi/Ends Mombasa or Nairobi –Early pick up from your beach resort for transfer to Mombasa airport,Ukunda airstrip at Diani beach or Malindi airport or if it starts in Nairobi We’ll pick you up from the International Airport, your hotel or residence and transfer to nearby Wilson Airport for your morning flight.

Imagine the world famous Masai Mara less than an hour away. You’ll begin your holiday in quick comfort with an easy flight from Nairobi. Crossland Budget Safaris Kenya will make all the arrangements – you only have to relax and enjoy beautiful Kenya from the air. In no time, you’ll touch down at the Mara and start your safari in a customized pop top 4 x 4 Land Cruiser Jeep.

The Masai Mara is the ultimate Kenya and East Africa park. Renowned for its vast acacia accented savannahs, the Mara is most famous for witnessing the great migration. This is the largest movement of wildlife on the planet with a flood of over a million wildebeest, zebra and impala seeking fresh vegetation after the rains.

Throughout your 4-day safari you’ll be treated to multiple game viewing drives. Be on the lookout for Africa’s Big Five game as the park is famous for hosting these large predators. In addition to lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino, there will be opportunities to view cheetah, hyena and jackal.

Then, take in the vast herds of the great migration which you can safely observe from your 4 x 4 Jeep. This great swath of wildebeest and zebra cross the Mara River, braving the awaiting crocodile. All the elements of a life and death drama occur here as the cycle of nature unfolds again and again. No one who has seen the river crossing can ever forget it.

There will be other opportunities to experience the varied wildlife of the Mara such as guided game walks. Here you can get closer to the smaller animals and enjoy the varied birdlife that blankets the reserve.

The Maasai people have inhabited these lands for eons. You can enjoy an optional visit to one of their villages to learn first-hand about their cattle-raising culture. And, for spectacular views of the savannah and its immense population of wildlife, treat yourself to a hot air balloon ride for incredible vistas.

On day 4 of your flight-safari journey, there will be two additional game drives – before and after breakfast, prior to your quick flight back to Nairobi.

Day 1: Fly from Mombasa/Diani to Masai Mara

From Mombasa

Early pick up from your beach resort for transfer to Mombasa airport,Ukunda airstrip at Diani beach or Malindi airport .

Connect with your regular scheduled charter flight to the Masai Mara game reserve.

0730hrs- 0830hrs. Fly from the Kenya coast to Masai Mara game reserve on the regular scheduled charter flights. Enjoy panoramic views of the Mount Kilimanjaro peaks and Kenyan Landscapes during the flight.

From Nairobi

0700 Hrs: Pick up from your Nairobi hotel, Nairobi airport.Transfer to the Nairobi Wilson airport where you board your morning flight to the Masai Mara.

Approximately 1030hrs. Arrive at the Masai Mara game reserve airstrip. You shall be met at the airstrip for a transfer to your safari lodge or tented camp.Short introduction game viewing drive en-route.Afternoon game viewing drive.

Day 2: Discover Masai Mara

Today we will be spending in the vast eco-system of the Mara searching for the big five and much more. You also have an optional balloon safari Many call it a once in a life time experience, once you are up, you won’t want to come down, and once you land, champagne breakfast awaits you.

Game viewing is great from the air with the opportunity for beautiful pictures. The annual wildebeest migration is expected in the Masai Mara between July and early November. Millions of animals migrate to the Mara from Serengeti in search for fresh green pastures and water. It’s worth noting that every game drive is different from the other, and missing one is missing out on the fun.

Day 3: Explore Masai Mara

This day shall be a game viewing extravaganza! Masai Mara Game reserve remains the most exciting wildlife eco-system in the Natural world.

It is host to  the highest and most varied concentration of wild animals than any other wildlife park in the region.

The scenic appeal of the tree studded savannah plains, the  moderate climate and diversity of wild game species makes it a one stop shop for game viewing activities.

We shall traverse the Masai Mara reserve on Wildlife viewing drives encountering the big five and more of the lesser game.

You may visit  the Mara river to  watch hippos & crocodiles or maybe the great migration (July – October)

Day 4: Explore Masai Mara

You will have an early morning pre-breakfast safari game viewing drive. Depending on the season, the plains are home to astounding abundance of wildlife like the wildebeests, zebras, buffaloes, impalas, topi, giraffes, Thomson ’s gazelle, cheetahs, serval cats, hyenas, warthogs, jackals, waterbucks, monkeys, baboons.

This is the Park with the largest number of lion sightings. If you are lucky, you get the opportunity to see the rare shy black rhino at a distance. The vast plains are also home to the Masai people with their big herds of cattle and their rich unique culture. We will then return to the Lodge/ Camp for breakfast then leave for another game drive viewing at then return to the Lodge in time for lunch. After lunch, transfer to the airstrip for your scheduled flight to Mombasa Airport.

1400 Hours: Depart from Masai Mara. 1600 Hours: Arrive at Nairobi Wilson Airport or Mombasa Airport, where you will be received and transferred to your hotel.
